Recently, The Walking School Bus also led several India Expeditions to benefit rural students in that area of the world by bringing their model of Access, Nutrition, and Curriculum to improve student success. The Walking School Bus has also expanded into Northern Uganda, where their volunteers installed a $10,000 BrightBox, a solar-powered computer lab with Google’s Rasberry Pi computers and tablets in the Northern Ugandan refugee settlement of Bidibidi. By partnering with the teachers at the Twajiji primary school, The Walking School Bus hopes to reach more than 3600 refugee students with this investment, and have plans to expand further into the Palorinya Refugee Settlement as well as the Nakivale Refugee Settlement once community consultations are finished.
