I would like to share a personal moment with those who knew Des and I and engaged in some part of the journey in life we took together. We started late, both in the full flow of very different careers. We met as colleagues, we became friends, but it was clear to both of us as soon as we were in each other’s space, that it was much more than that, we were strangers, so different, yet were so in sync we could finish each other’s sentences, we were soul mates of a different order, it was truly a kind of miracle.
When I entered his beautiful library writing space and sat down at his desk 30 days after he died, I kept getting up but I talked myself into opening at least one drawer. Then I saw what he left for me to discover, I knew he was writing something but not this.
There in 10 pages of text was a succinct statement of what we both believed, written with his extraordinary talent.
I recognized his words as our words, spoken in his voice, but it was more than that, as Visioneers it was in all our voices. Take any passage he wrote as truth and say you disagree with it. I doubt you will find one because he was speaking the naked truth – all our truth, somehow along the road we were travelling together we have become an army of soul mates who can choose to look at the world today reported by the media in despair for the moral darkness we see, or we can choose to raise the flag to wage The Golden Peace Desmond described.
The Book of Prophetic Verses does not look away from the dark shadow of our time but surprisingly he describes what the light would be like too and says to us – we have a choice and he calls on us to choose the light, C8 Vs13.
O people of the Earth, generations of the third millennium, reach now for this great achievement that you were born to accomplish
and he ends with these words of hope that we will choose the light
Proclaim the destiny for which you were born
Act with boldness and great courage
so, he is talking to you, to each of us and also to me…
As always, I have taken him at his word and so in spite of my very deep sadness at least for now, my team and I have prepared Des’ beautiful words to provide you with the means to amplify his call to us to choose the light so we may hope for the golden future he describes and
Act with boldness and great courage
and choose peace
Because as a psychologist of long standing I know that hope empowers us to achieve.
In that spirit and on Desmond’s call, we ask you to share these Prophetic Verses and invite those in your community to join us or at least to read these words and share them.
Our agenda in celebrating goodness, nobility, Global Citizenship and respect and honour for the diversity among us to create Pax Humana, the peace of humanity is the agenda that if truly embraced would make an important contribution to peace in our time.
What a difference we could make!
You will hear Christopher Gaze, award winning Visioneer, classical Shakespearian actor, founder and artistic director of Bard on the Beach, bringing Shakespeare to a modern Vancouver audience, give his beautiful voice to Desmond’s words, which follow below the video. You can read his message as it was written, beautifully presented as Tatiana Speed and Mark Benson helped me prepare it for you. You can download the words in print format and share them both with your community.
Thank you for what you already do.
Special blessings for this holiday time of year.
