I am an author, educator, ecopsychologist, and political philosopher and have written two books: Original Thinking: A Radical ReVisioning of Time, Humanity, and Nature (North Atlantic Books, 2015) and Original Politics: Making America Sacred Again (SelectBooks, 2020). I am the founder and former director of the SEED Institute and currently the president of a grass-roots think tank called Circle for Original Thinking (and do a weekly podcast by the same name). The mission of the Circle for Original Thinking is to seek out the deep origins of contemporary thought in order to remember and restore heart-centered wisdom for humanity and all our relations on Earth. I earned my BA in Psychology from Allegheny College. i earned my MA from the California Institute of Integral Studies in East-West Psychology, and my PhD in Humanities with a concentration in Transformative Learning also from CIIS. I organized and participated in the Language of Spirit conferences from 1999-2011 that brought together native and Western scientists in dialogue. Today, I regularly moderate dialogues that seek to bridge political and cultural differences. I am a member of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, the Jean Gebser Society, and the Theosophical Society as part of a life-long interest in bridging the arts and sciences.
