Dr. Roberta Borgen
Dr. Roberta Borgen (Neault), CCC, CCDP, GCDFi, is President of Life Strategies Ltd., Project Director with the Canadian Career Development Foundation, and President of the Counsellor Educators Chapter of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. An award-winning career management specialist with almost four decades of relevant experience in counselling, coaching, consulting, training, curriculum design, research, and writing, Roberta recently retired as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences for Yorkville University and served on Team Canada for the 2017 International Symposium on Career Development and Public Policy in Korea. She is the recipient of the BC Career Development Association's Mentor of the Year Award, the National Employment Counseling Association's Professional Development Award, the Canadian Career Development Foundation's prestigious Stu Conger Award for Leadership in Career Counselling and Career Development in Canada, and the Gold Medal and Diamond Pin for Leadership in Career Development. She was recently awarded an honourary membership with the Career Development Association of Alberta and, on behalf of the Life Strategies team, received the Outstanding Educator of Career Professionals award from the Asia Pacific Career Development Association.
Roberta's strengths lie in her professionalism, infectious enthusiasm for empowering individuals and organizations, and "hands-on" experience working with diverse groups of people. Her pragmatic "can do" attitude ensures that customized solutions are innovative and affordable. Equally comfortable with leadership/executive teams and individuals just entering the workplace, Roberta has lived/worked/travelled through more than 70 countries, supporting people from diverse cultures, educational levels, and employment experiences, across all stages of life. She brings vivid anecdotes, practical examples, and a wealth of resources to her training events, publications, and keynotes/presentations.
Frequently invited to speak at conferences and seminars (both local and international), Roberta's most requested topics include lifelong career management, career engagement, international and global careers, team strengthening, managing diversity, individual and organizational sustainability, work-life balance, psychometric assessment, professional ethics, change and transition, and strategic recruitment, retention, and employee engagement. She teaches at several universities, both online and in-person, and has developed countless courses and programs.
Author of Career Strategies for a Lifetime of Success, That Elusive Work-Life Balance, and several training "toolkits" for Personality Dimensions. Roberta continues to research and write extensively about topics related to career and life management. With Spencer Niles, Norm Amundson, and Hyung Joon Yoon, Roberta co-authored Career Recovery: Creating Hopeful Careers in Difficult Timesand Career Flow and Development: Hope in Action.
