The Zajac Ranch for Children is a fully inclusive summer camp where everything is accessible for children with medical conditions and disabilities. It sits on 44 acres of beautiful wilderness on the shores of Stave Lake in Mission, British Columbia, Canada. The mission of the Ranch is to provide camp experiences that empower children of all abilities to participate, and to foster the development of lasting opportunities for friendship and fulfillment. It is guided by values of respect, integrity, compassion, inclusiveness and empowerment. The summer experiences at the Ranch give participants the opportunity to explore the outdoors while developing greater social and environmental awareness, increased self-confidence, and positive attitudes towards physical activity. Over 13 years of operation more than 4000 children with long term illnesses and disabilities have been to the Zajac Ranch for Children summer camp. Founder Mel Zajac (See Mel Zajac in Lifetime Achievement Awards) says that every child deserves to experience the great outdoors and have their opportunity to reach their full potential, and he is grateful to the donors who help to make this possible. The Zajac Ranch for Children is a wonderful example of compassion in our society.
