Barbara Gaughen-Muller, is the quintessential global citizen and activist who focuses her work on bringing peace to her community, her country and the entire global village.
Barbara co-authored Revolutionary Conversations: The Tools You Need for the Success You want. Barbara is the creator and host of the popular Peace Podcast with over 80 interviews of world peace leaders and is the publisher of Peace Community magazine . Barbara is the President of the United Nations Association - Southern California Division, co-founder and immediate past President of the Rotary Club of World Peace, as well as the president-elect of the Rotary Action Group for Peace. She is a highly respected public speaker on all aspects of peace.
She received the Spirit of the UN award after her 70th anniversary speech at the United Nations in New York. Barbara’s favorite quote comes from Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Barbara Muller’s life spiraled deep into peace almost as if she were following her Hungarian grandfather’s prediction at age 3 that she was going to be a peacemaker. During her life as wife, mother, teacher and counselor, she helped children, families and returning Viet Nam vets resolve conflicts and grow into their best selves as they followed their dreams. During her 25 years as a board member of La Casa de Maria, Barbara was instrumental in inviting world leaders to focus on ways they could have an impact on some of the world’s most challenging questions. It was at the first of those invitationals where she met Dr. Robert Muller, former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, winner of the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education, and co-founder and first chancellor of the University for Peace, located in Costa Rica. After she and Robert married they travelled and worked together for peace around the world, co-created 7,500 Ideas for a Better World which are shared on GoodMorningWorld.org in 5 languages.
Barbara is a dynamic, passionate, spiritually aware and awake woman whose positive, insightful “Peace is possible” message is an inspiration to friends and colleagues. She continues to speak for peace among nations and how to end the war on nature, as she creates solutions for solving future challenges before it is too late.
